Planet Combinations For Wealth

1. I now tell you of special combinations, giving wealth. One born to these Yogas will surely become wealthy.

2. Yogas for Great Affluence. Should a Rāśi of Venus be 5th House and be occupied by Venus himself, while Mars is in 11th House, the native will obtain great riches.

3. Should a Rāśi of Mercury be 5th House and be occupied by Mercury himself, as 11th House is occupied by Moon, Mars and Jupiter, the native will be very affluent.

4. Should Leo be 5th House and be occupied by Sun himself, as Saturn, Moon and Jupiter are in 11th House, the native will be very affluent.

5. Should Sun and Moon be in 11th House, as Saturn is in 5th House identical with his own House, the native will be very affluent.

6. Should Jupiter be in 5th House identical with his own Rāśi, as Mercury is in 11th House, the native will be very affluent.

7. If a Rāśi of Mars happens to be 5th House with Mars therein, while Venus is in 11th House, the native will become very affluent.

8. If Cancer happens to be 5th House, containing Moon therein, while Saturn is in 11th House, the native will become very affluent.

9. Should Sun be in Leo identical with Lagna and be conjunct with, or receiving a Aspect from Mars and Jupiter, one will be wealthy.

10. Should Moon be in Cancer identical with Lagna and be conjunct with, or receiving a Aspect from Mercury and Jupiter, one will be wealthy.

11. Should Mars be in Lagna identical with his own Rāśi and be conjunct with, or receiving a Aspect from Mercury, Venus and Saturn, the native will be rich.

12. Should Mercury’s Rāśi be Lagna with Mercury therein and should Mercury be conjunct with, or receiving a Aspect from Saturn and Jupiter, the native will be rich.

13. Should Jupiter be in Lagna identical with his own Rāśi and be conjunct with, or receiving a Aspect from Mercury and Mars , the native will be rich.

14. If Venus happens to be in Lagna identical with his own Rāśi and be conjunct with, or receiving a Aspect from Saturn and Mercury, one will be wealthy.

15. If Saturn is in his own Rāśi identical with Lagna and receiving a Aspect from, or being conjunct with Mars and Jupiter, the native will be wealthy.

16. Other Qualified Planets. 9ths Lord and 5ths Lord are capable of bestowing wealth. Similarly Planets, conjunct with 9ths Lord and/or 5ths Lord are capable of bestowing wealth. There is no doubt, that these Planets will give wealth during their Dasha periods.

17. The Yogas, mentioned above should be delineated after knowing favourable, or unfavorable dispositions of the participant Planets and their strength and weakness.

Raj Yoga

Excellent of the Brahmins, I now narrate below the Raja Yogas, making one entitled to royal honour. These were told to Parvati by Lord Shiva once upon a time, the gist of which is, as follows.

Raja Yogas are to be known from the Karakāńś Lagna and the natal Lagna. On the one hand the pair of Atma Karak and 5th Karak should be considered and on the other hand the natal Lagnas Lord and 5ths Lord should be taken into consideration. The effects, due to such association, will be full, or a half, or a quarter, according to their strengths.

Maha Raja Yoga. Should Lagnas Lord and 5ths Lord exchange their Rāśis, or, if Atma Karak and 5th Karak (Char) are in Lagna, or in 5th House, or in the exaltation Rāśi, or in own Rāśi, or in own Navāmśa, receiving a Aspect from a benefic, Maha Raja Yoga is produced. The native so born will be famous and happy.

1. If Lagnas Lord and Atma Karak are in 1st, 5th, or 7th House, conjunct with, or receiving a Aspect from a benefic, a Raja Yoga is formed.

2. Should there be benefics in the 2nd, the 4th and the 5th, counted either from Lagnas Lord, or from Atma Karak Rāśi, one will become a king. Similarly malefics in the 3rd and 6th from Lagnas Lord, or from Atma Karak Rāśi will make one a king.

3. One will be related to royal circles, if Venus is the Karakāńś, or in the 5th there from, or in Lagna, or in Arudh Lagna, receiving a Aspect from, or conjunct with Jupiter, or Moon.

4. Even, if a single Planet gives a Aspect to the natal Lagna, or Hora Lagna, or Ghatik Lagna, the native will become a king.

5. If the Shad Vargas of Lagna is occupied, or receives an Aspect from one and the same Planet, a Raja Yoga is doubtlessly formed. Accordingly, if the Aspect is full, half, or one fourth, results will be in order full, medium and negligible.

6. If the 3 Lagnas (natal, Hora and Ghatik) are occupied by Planets in exaltation, or in own Rāśi, or, if the natal Lagna, the Dreshkan Lagna and the Navāmśa Lagna have exalted Planets, Raja Yoga is formed.

7. If Moon and a benefic are in the Arudh Lang, as Jupiter is in the 2nd from the natal Lagna and both these places are receiving Aspects from Planets in exaltation, or Planets in own Rāśi, there will be a Raja Yoga.

8. If Lagna, 2nd and 4th House are occupied by benefics, while a malefic is in 3rd House, one will become a king, or equal to a king.

9. The native will be wealthy, if one among Moon, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury is exalted in 2nd House.

10. If 6th, 8th and 3rd House are occupied by debilitated Planets, as Lagnas Lord is exalted, or is in own House and gives a Aspect to Lagna, there is a Raja Yoga.

11. Again a Raja Yoga is formed, if 6ths, 8ths and 12ths Lords are in fall, or in inimical Rāśis, or in combustion, as Lagnas Lord, placed in his own Rāśi, or in its exaltation Rāśi, gives a Aspect to Lagna.

12. If 10ths Lord, placed in his own House, or in its exaltation Rāśi, gives a Aspect to Lagna, a Raja Yoga is formed. Similar is the case, if benefics are in Kendras.

13. If the Atma Karak Planet is in a benefics Rāśi/Navāmśa, the native will be wealthy. If there are benefics in Kendras from Karakāńś Lagna, he will become a king.

14. If the Arudh Lagna and Dar Pad are in mutual Kendras, or in mutual 3rd/11th Houses, or in mutual Konas, the native will doubtlessly become a king.

15. If two, or all of House, Hora, Ghatik Lagnas are receiving a Aspect from exalted Planets, a Raja Yoga is formed.

16. If House, Hora and Ghatik Lagnas, their Dreshkanas and Navāmśaas, or the said
Lagnas and their Navāmśaas, or the said Lagnas and their Dreshkanas receive a Aspect from a Planet, a Raja Yoga is formed.

17. If Arudh Pad is occupied by an exalted Planet, particularly Moon in exaltation, or by Jupiter and/or Venus (with, or without exaltation), while there is no Argala by a malefic, the native will become a king. If the Arudh Pad is a benefic Rāśi, containing Moon, while Jupiter is in 2nd House, the same effect will prevail.

18. Even, if one among 6ths, 8ths and 12ths Lords, being in debilitation, gives a Aspect to Lagna, there will be a Raja Yoga.

19. The native will become a king, if a Planet, ruling 4th, 10th, 2nd, or 11th, gives a Aspect to Lagna, while Venus gives a Aspect to the 11th from Arudh Lagna, as Arudh Lagna is occupied by a benefic. The same effect will be obtained, if a debilitated Planet gives a Aspect to Lagna and is placed in 6th, or 8th House. Again similar result will prevail, if a debilitated Planet, placed in 3rd, or 11th House, gives a Aspect to Lagna.

20. I now tell you of the Raja Yogas, based on the Planets with different dignities and on the Aspects and Conjuncts of the Planets.

21. 9ths Lord is akin to a minister and more especially 5ths Lord. If these two Planets mutually give a Aspect, the native will obtain a kingdom. Even, if these two are conjunct in any House, or, if they happen to be placed in mutually 7th places, one born of royal scion will become a king.

22. The native will attain a kingdom, if 4ths Lord is in 10th House and 10ths Lord is n 4th House and, if these Planets give a Aspect to 5ths and 9ths Lords.

23. If the Lords of 5th, 10th, 4th and Lagna are conjunct in 9th House, one will become a ruler with fame, spreading over the four directions.

24. Should the Lord of 4th, or of 10th House join either the 5ths Lord, or 9ths Lord, he native will obtain a kingdom.

25. If 5ths Lord is in Lagna, 4th, or 10th House, conjunct with 9ths Lord, or Lagna Lord, the native will become a king.

26. Should Jupiter be in his own Rāśi identical with 9th House and conjunct with either Venus, or 5ths Lord, the native will obtain royal status.

27. Two and a half Ghatis from mid-day, or from mid-night is auspicious time. A birth during such an auspicious time will cause one to be a king, or equal to him.

28. Should Moon and Venus be mutually in 3rd and 11th House and receiving Aspects from each other, while they are placed elsewhere, a Raja Yoga is obtained.

29. Should Moon, endowed with strength, be Vargaottāńśa and receives a Aspect from four, or more Planets, the native will become a king.

30. One will become a king, if Lagna in Uttamāńśa receives a Aspect from four, or more Planets, out of which Moon should not be one.

31. If one, or two, or three Planets are in exaltation, one of a royal scion will become a king, while another will be equal to a king, or be wealthy.

32. If four, or five Planets occupy their exaltation Rāśis, or Moolatrikona Rāśis, even a person of base birth will become king.

33. If six Planets are exalted, the native will become emperor and will enjoy various kinds of royal paraphernalia.

34. Even, if one among Jupiter, Venus and Mercury is in exaltation, while a benefic is in a Kendr, the native will become a king, or be equal to him.

35. If all benefics are relegated to Kendras, while malefics are in 3rd, 6th and 11th house, the native, though may be of mean descent, will ascend the throne.

The Elements Of Astrological Counselling

The first is belief in the pattern of destiny as a result of the deeds of past lives. That karma cannot be changed.

The second, within that pattern only your free-will can be exercised and not outside. The President of Immortals has drawn for each of us an orbit outside which your cannot stray.

The third, astrology is the only science known to man which helps you see the past without your having to tell the present as it is, and the future that is to unfold.
And finally remember that in astrology it is the Moon sign and the birth star that help you see the whirligig of time with the karmic pattern of each one’s destiny unfolding.

So believe in the Moon-sign and the birth Star.

Rajayogas In Kundli

There are many ways of examining about any " RAJYOGAS " in kundli. The simplest principle is to see the combination of the lords of trikonas (trines) and kendras (quadrants).

First remember the following three points:

1. It has been stated earlier that trines are known as Lakshmi sthanas or houses of wealth.

2. It has also been stated the quadrants are Vishnu sthanas or the houses of protection.

3. It has also been stated that the lagna lord is the lord both of the trikona and the kendra.

Therefore the Rajayogas for each horoscope will have to be seen thus :-

1. Lagna lord and the fourth lord.
2. Lagna lord and the fifth lord.
3. Lagna lord and the seventh lord.
4. Lagna lord and the ninth lord.
5. Lagna lord and the tenth lord.
6. The fourth lord and the fifth lord.
7. The fourth lord and the ninth lord.
8. The fifth lord and the seventh lord.
9. The fifth lord and the tenth lord.
10. The ninth lord and the seventh lord.
11. The ninth lord and the tenth lord.

The Spirituality Associated With Houses - Part 2

The Seventh House :

This house of sex is also the house of sex-sublimination. It is when the kundalini power rises high that sexual lust gets transformed into love and a sadhak feel the spiritual vibrations of the rising kundalini.

The Eighth House :

It should be noticed that the fourth house is the house of spirituality and salvation in the trines given before. The eighth house is the second of such house, but being a secret house (eighth house is a hidden house) one practices one’s sadhana in secluded and cloistered places. It is true that this house also represents agonies which must include spiritual disappointments in the act attaining a blissful state of samadhi.

The Ninth House :

Next to the fifth house, the house on which all astrologers lay greatest stress for spiritual development is the ninth house. Yet, there is a controversy among astrologers whether it is the ninth house or the fifth house that is to be seen for the spiritual merit of the past life. While majority of astrologers see the fifth house for the merit of the past life, it is also logical to see that after the eighth house of samadhi that the spiritual merit of this life blossoms out. The ninth house therefore is to be examined for all acts of penance, pilgrimage, worship of gods.

It is the house which represented the last stage of full spiritual development, after which one can become a guru or a spiritual guide. This house also is for father, who is one of the early gurus of a child.

Note – The fourth house which is the first house of the moksha triangle represents mother which is why serving one’s mother is the service to adi-guru (the first guru).
The ninth house, the last of the dharma triangle, shows the importance of service to one’s father, as the key-note of religious progress.

It is for this reason that the Sanskrit saying, "Matri devo bhava" (let mother be the goddess) and "Pitro devo bhava" (let father be the god) is the eternal lesson children are taught to lay poper foundation of their spiritual life.Inferentially, those who are cruel to their parents cannot hope to be spiritually successful in their practices. This is a harsh spiritual reality which will not be palatable to many modern young people. Yet an astrologer cannot afford to overlook this.

The Tenth House :

The tenth house is the house of those deeds which are noticed. A person who has potentised a mantra and has become a guru, wins social recognition through his deeds (even misdeeds). It is for this reason that Jupiter, the greatest benefic is preferred most in this house for holy deeds because the tenth house is the house of religious, spiritual and ritualistic deeds.
Note – In the case of a guru the tenth house shows the quality of his deeds, along with the lord of the tenth house.

The Eleventh House :

In a spiritual sense, the eleventh house is a very enigmatic house. Benefics in it will attract one to worship of many gods and great scriptural scholarship and authorship. Many planets in it will bring, as donations to a guru, lot of money as the eleventh house is the last of the kama triangle or desires. Such desires can be good and evil. The eleventh house is thus the house of the last of the temptations a religious person has to face, which must be overcome to reach the final destination, salvation.

The Twelfth House :

The twelfth house, the condition of the twelfth lord and Ketu are the salvation giving factors. A bad twelfth house can ruin all the spiritual promises of an otherwise good horoscope.

Note – What has been given so far here is only a bare outline of the spiritual promise inherent in a horoscope. These very promises are to be examined in greater details through many other finer analysis. The use of Vimshamsha (one-twentieth division horoscope) will have to be brought into use.

Jaimini astrology should be used before any predictions about anyone’s spiritual life is given otherwise, spiritual astrology more often than not becomes a wild goose chase.

Note – A safe and sound method which an astrologer can adopt is to make a proper use of the navamsha (one ninth) division of a horoscope and examine the fifth and the ninth lords and houses of navamsha and then the twelfth lord. Together with all this, the most important factor in the spiritual evolution of a person is to see what (dasha in Vimshottari ) sequence one has got in life. The most favourable periods are the periods of the fifth and the ninth lords.

The Spirituality Associated With Houses - Part 1

The First House :

The first house representing oneself, shows the beginning of awareness of spiritual side of human life. If three or more planets are in the first house, such persons, inspite of all distractions, can practice self-control with determination, and successfully.

From the first house springs the desire to enjoy peace generally and the tendency to renounce because the first stage of renunciation is physical. To understand it, the Four Purusharthas of classical Indian tradition should be understood. The first one is Dharma (religious conduct), the second is Artha (the desire to earn money), the third is the karma to enjoy life physically and the last is Moksha to make efforts to get salvation.

The Second House :

The family environment gives to one some spiritual tendencies, which is what the second house represents, being the house of Kutumba (or the family one is brought up in). Faith in religious and spiritual traditions are inherited and also acquired generally from parents. The second house represents it, besides, also being the house of speech. See the planets (particularly Jupiter, Venus, Mercury) without affliction to examine whether one has the tendency to speak truth or falsehood. The second also being the house of earnings, monetary gains etc., the charity one does with money and gifts are also to be seen from the second house.

Note – In this respect the role of the twelfth house is more important.

The Third House :

The third house known as the house of valour and courage becomes favorable if there is a malefic like Rahu, Saturn, Mars, Ketu in it. It shows a determination to apply oneself to spiritual practices with strong will.
Note – The third house, according to Maharshi Parashara, is the house of upadesha or religious preaching.

The third house also is to be seen for short and quick pilgrimages.
According to the Uttrta-kalamrita, the third house represents the part of the palm which is between the thumb and the index finger with which many rituals are performed.

The Fourth House :

The fourth house representing buildings, represents the religious-philanthropic institutions one builds and also the trusts one creates or religious, philanthropic and other good trusts with the money one has.

In the life of an individual the fourth house represents his desire to pursue his spiritual life in the quiet surroundings of a place, house or ashram with rhythmic regularity. In the case of a yogi it can represent pranayama or breath-control. But if such a house is disturbed, such persons find that by moving from one place to another only they can follow their spiritual pursuits.

The Fifth House :

An important principle of Hindu astrology is that if a planet aspects its own house, that house gets strengthened. This should be seen very closely in the case of the fifth house around which revolves the realization of the potency of mantra, yantra, because this house is important in two ways: in the case of the individual whose horoscope is being examined, it represents the spiritual merit of his past life and in the case of his father, it is the house of his spiritual merit of his present life.

It is a good fifth house that bestows viveka or a sense of discrimination and deep spiritual wisdom born both of the reading of scriptures and spirituals practices.

The Sixth House :

In the life of a spiritual practitioner fifteen types of distractions are normal. More often than not these take a person away from the desired spiritual path. To overcome such distractions, a malefic in the sixth house is always good. As it is, a malefic in the sixth house is good for ensuring sound health and the tenacity to overcome obstacles. In spiritual life this house helps in developing one pointed concentration.

Learning Some Basics of Predictive Principles

Before learning Astrology, it is necessary to understand some technical terms of astrology which are used more commonly.

1. Kendras (Quadrants) – The Lagna, the fourth, seventh and the tenth houses of the lagna are called kendras and the lords of those houses are called lords of kendras, wherever they may be placed in a horoscope.

2. Trikonas (Trines) – The lagna and the fifth and the ninth houses from the lagna are trines. The lords of the fifth and ninth houses have been described as trikonas which is a fallacy. The word 'tri' in Sanskrit means 'three'. In what is known as the ashtakvarga, in trikona shodhana , the lagna, the fifth and the ninth houses are taken. Thus lagna lord is both a kendra lord and also the trikona lord.

3. Panapharas (Cadent) – The second, fifth, the eighth and the eleventh houses are known as panapharas. Then a special term used is Upachaya house which are the third, sixth, tenth and eleventh houses and their lords.

4. Apoklimas (Succudent) – The third, sixth, ninth and the twelfth houses are known as apolklima. But since the ninth house is trikona, it is generally omitted from this category.

Exaltation & Debilitation Of Planets

A planet is in an extremely happy condition when he is exalted and is in an extremely miserable condition when he is debilitated (It is not always true, But this fundamental principle is useful for prediction). When and upto what degrees in a sign is a planet exalted is the first lesson you learn.

Sun Exaltation in Mesha upto 10 deg Debilitation in Tula upto 10 deg

Moon Exaltation in Vrishabh upto 03 deg Debilitation in Vrischika upto 3deg

Mars Exaltation inMakara upto 28 deg Debilitation in Karka upto 28 deg

Mercury Exaltation in Kanya upto 15 deg Debilitation in Meena upto 15 deg

Jupiter Exaltation in Karka upto 05 deg Debilitation in Makar upto 05 deg

Venus Exaltation in Meena upto 27 deg Debilitation in Kanya upto 27 deg

Saturn Exaltation in Tula upto 20o Debilitation in Mesha upto 20o

Note : Except Mercury who is exalted in Kanya no other planet gets any exalted status in its own house.

Note: All exalted planets get debilitated in the seventh house from their points of exaltations. For instance the Sun is exalted in Mesha. Now count in this way – Mesha first, Vrisha second, Mithuna third, Karka ending with Tula which is the seventh house from Aries.

How i chose astrology

Growing up I didn't know a thing about astrology or even what it was. I couldn't have told you the difference between Aries and Aquarius if I'd tried. In my family, we scoffed at astrology, considering it about as authentic as alien photos from supermarket tabloids. Not until my late teens would I become curious about what those twelve signs listed in the newspaper's horoscope section meant.

By this time I'd become jaded with things of a mystical or esoteric nature. I loved the idea that everyone had a 'sign' and that we got certain traits from them, but I doubted astrology would prove to be anything real or useful in my life. I had no interest in being told what to believe so I shunned books on the subject and decided to do my own research. I began simply and tried my best to avoid being swayed by anyone's idea on the subject. I told no one what I was doing, I just started studying in my own way and as of 2008 I still consider myself to be studying, though more openly now.
